OBJECTIVES

• To provide spirit of enquiry, experimentation and observation.
• To interpret the impact of various phenomena in our daily life.
• To promote problem solving decision making attitude.
• To inculcate scientific attitude among the students.
• To make the students aware about the contextual knowledge.

Features of Science Stream

The science stream of S. V’s Purushottom Walawalkar Higher Secondary School has always been dedicated towards providing the quality education to our students with wider exposure in the field of science  under a stress free environment.

We organize Annual science fair comprising of various activities such as science quiz demonstrating the extensive knowledge of our students, PPT presentations showcasing the presentation skills of a student, thus developing confidence to address a gathering professionally. Students are also offered a platform to present their scientific creativity through working models and exhibitions. On this occasion students are addressed by experts in career guidance with interactive sessions.

We also encourage  students participation in various science based competitions and events in as well as outside the state of Goa, particularly, the Annual Science Film Festival SCI-FFI and IISF ,organized by Vidnyan Parishad, Goa.

Education here is not limited to the four walls of the class room or

laboratories, We organized field trips and educational tours for our students under the supervision of teachers.

Students here are also trained to answer All India Competitive exams (GCET, JEE, NEET).  Students were given MCQ bank in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics.

To strengthen the collective parent teacher effort, we have the annual home visits. In addition to this, we also have teacher mentors dedicated to each group of students who undertake home visits on a regular basis. Likewise these mentors keep connected with their allotted students at academic level as well as provide them personal counseling. Vacation classes, afternoon remedials and  special sessions for high achievers to increase their motivation are also conducted.

Students who opt for Computer Science have to answer an Aptitude Test in the 1st week after re-opening. They will be granted Computer Science only if they clear the same.  Any optional subject will be given on merit basis and subject to minimum number of 20 students.
